ABOUT THE ARTIST
All my life I have had a deep interest in both healing and art. After decades of doing traditional paintings, which earned me national recognition, my work was transformed by what I can only describe as a download. I watched as my paintings went from realism to an explosion of color combinations conveying an inexplicable energy and vibrancy.
It all started one day when I was having lunch at my kitchen table. I took off my glasses and rubbed my right eye to try to make what I saw disappear. In the corner of my eye I was seeing a backward C shaped chain of isosceles triangles. Each connected to the next by a point forming a chain. The triangles were colored in tints and they lasted for ten minutes. At first I was alarmed, however, I decided to relax and see what happened. I had no physical reaction to the event and just filed the whole thing away.
Two months later it happened again. This time in the corner of my left eye. Same time of day, same place, and for the same amount of time… ten minutes. The only difference being the triangles were outlined in black and filled with bright primary colors. This time I just enjoyed the experience. Having a third experience several months after the second event, the triangles formed a straight line across my mid vision and seemed to be a combination of the first two events. After this third experience, the new vibrant paintings burst forth and I was in awe of them and wanted to be a good steward.
I am the brush, not the artist holding the brush. A creative intelligence seemingly flows through me. The process of creation is like taking dictation. I am told what colors to use and where to put them and when the painting is finished. Nowhere in this process is there any room for my ideas. For me it has definitely been an on-going learning and growing experience. I am being continually led and the work expands. As I am more comfortable with this process, my ability to listen and surrender is deeper, easier and more joyful.
The amazing properties of color have been used in these works to evoke a resonance with the viewer that activates their inherent transformational elements. For many, these paintings have become energy tools offering positive energetic vibrations in their environment. For people particularly sensitive to the vibrations, the results can be truly remarkable. The first exhibit of these unique offerings sold out and went all over the world, finding homes in hospitals, doctors offices and healing centers as well as on Wall Street and in public collections.
Offering joy and transformation to the viewer, these paintings seem to meet them where they are in life and help them to take their next step. I have come to think of these paintings as energy portraits and have called them Soul Art.
